Cabrini is a community which is energized and enriched by its many members who volunteer to work on committees/task forces/ad hoc groups and make activities happen. Activities and events are the result of members or groups of members who have an idea or see an opportunity to add a new activity/event/working group within the parish. Cabrini members support each other in times of need such as family changes such as birth, moves and illness.
Cabrini has made a major effort to reach out to gay and lesbian Catholics and their families. Support groups have been formed. Additional information is available.
Food, that ever dependable foundation of countless happy times, is a constant feature of the community's many, many events. Each Sunday there is a hospitality hour following one of the masses. Food is essential but not fancy. Members (2 or 3 families at a time) take turns hosting and treats/food vary with the people who host. Some other events that (have been/are) held include spaghetti dinner, game nights, auctions and meals shared with friends, old and new, within the parish.
There are also the less visible tasks of keeping up the building (a lot of maintenance is done by volunteers) and monitoring the parish finances. Opportunities exist in many areas to participate in groups within the parish.
