Grades 5 through 8

Wednesdays 6:30-8:00 pm
Parent Information Night Wednesday, September 18, 2013.
Classes Begin Wednesday, September 25, 2013.
We will begin our Middle School Faith Formation year with a Parent Information Evening on September 18.  We will use this opportunity to give an overview of the program and what you can expect to see happening with the program this year.  We are asking that ALL PARENTS please attend this evening.
Our students in Grades 5 through 8 will be exploring a variety of prayer and liturgical experiences which include five community evenings designed as intergenerational and family friendly events centered around the seasons of our Church Year, and we are making a change to those evenings.  Beginning this year, all five of these evenings will include a pot luck dinner.  In addition, there will be a special emphasis on the Advent and Lenten seasons, including meditation with the Labyrinth, praying in the Taizé manner, Stations of the Cross, and our parish Reconciliation Service – the students will have a significant role in these events.  These are wonderful opportunities for our young people to experience first hand the cycles of our liturgical calendar.
In the classroom, our 5th and 6th graders will be studying the New Testament, while our 7th and 8th graders will study the Gospels and Contemporary Discipleship.  All four groups will spend time discussing the Sunday readings, and will participate in ongoing service and outreach opportunities throughout the year.

Our Middle school program also participates in five parish Community Evenings that include family oriented components. The role of the family in faith formation is foundational, and these pieces will help parents live out their roles as primary teachers for their children, while allowing the entire family to grow through experiences of prayer, liturgy, service, outreach and celebration.
