We're Listening and Ready to Support You
The Cabrini Mental Health Task Force’s mission is to make visible this community’s support and understanding for people who struggle with mental illness and feelings of loss. Our ongoing question is: What can we, as a faith community, offer to our members who deal with mental health and mental illness issues, either themselves or through a family member?
We recognize that mental illnesses are often isolating by their very nature. We wish to show our support and encouragement to those battling these illnesses, as well as support their families. We wish to remove the stigma that is so often associated with these issues.
We are not trying to be a substitute for solid mental health care from trained professionals. Rather, we are inviting the parish to help us create an atmosphere of acceptance, so that members of the parish might feel more free to talk about their struggles with mental health. We will be a community where feelings of loss and disconnection can be talked about openly and listened to supportively.
Our meetings are listed in the bulletin and announced at the Masses. New members are welcome. If you have further questions or ideas, please feel free to contact any of the members of the Task Force.
